Overview

Y Llais premiered on S4 on 9 February 202, backed by boom Cymru and ITV Studios at pinewood-adjacent Dragon International Film Studios. Each episode runs between one and two hours, with Sian Eleri guiding contestants through blind auditions, battles and public-only finals. At stake is a single co-written with established Welsh artists, a prize claimed in 2025 by Rose Datta under reggae singer Aleighcia Scott, whose team beat three other finalist acts.Opera legend Sir Bryn Terfel, singer-songwriter Bronwen Lewis and Côsh label boss Ywain Gwynedd complete the four-chair panel, with guest advisers Elin Fflur, Steffan Rhys Hughes, Trystian Llȳr Griffiths and Alys Williams dropping in across the season. The Welsh language dominates every performance, with English subtitles available on S4C’s digital slate. The first eight-week run delivered just over 2,000 minutes of new Welsh-language television music content, and all four coaches have already confirmed to return for the now-commissioned second series.
