Unwind with ITV

Late-night filler of drone shots, digital ripples and royalty-free ambience that replaced ITV Nightscreen in 2021.

Overview

Unwind with ITV is the soporific glue that holds ITV’s graveyard schedule together: slow aerial sweeps over lavender fields, CGI water lapping on virtual shores and library-music chimes that never quite resolve into melody. Rock Oyster Media, a Plymouth indie best known for fishing docs and heritage shorts, produces the segments in five- to 90-minute blocks that air between bargain-bin reruns and the looming neon of teleshopping. Launched 2 October 2021 after ITV Nightscreen was pensioned off, the strand is required viewing only in the sense that ITV1 must stay on air 24 hours to keep its public-service badge.

Each channel now carries its own flavour: Unwind with ITV1 pads out the 3 a.m. dead zone on ITVX, while Unwind with ITV2/3/4 and the newly rechristened ITV Quiz (the old ITVBe slot) front early-morning schedules with micro-edits as short as five minutes. STV dropped the loop in November 2022, replacing it with hyper-local bulletin Night Vision, then quietly reinstated it the following July when shopping channel Ideal World collapsed and left a gap in the Gaelic schedules.

A FAST channel of endless footage flickered briefly on ITVX in late 2022 before vanishing without announcement; the only trace now is a 1:50 a.m.–2:00 a.m. placeholder on ITV Quiz that signals the shift into roulette-infused teleshopping.
