Trulli Tales

Four young chefs defend a magical cookbook from a greedy villain in their enchanted Trulli village.

Starring Valentina Pallavicino· Annalisa Longo· Cinzia Massironi
Overview

In the conical-roofed village of Trulliland, four apprentice chefs, Sun, Ring, Zip and Stella, guard an ancient Magic Cookbook from the scheming Copperpot, who covets its recipes for himself. Each 11-minute episode pitches the quartet into kitchen-centred quests where they cook spells that restore order, teaching basic nutrition and Italian regional dishes while they’re at it. The animation blends pastel Apulian architecture with candy-bright fantasy, and every adventure ends with the friends sharing the day’s recipe in real time, encouraging viewers to cook along.

Created by Maria Elena and Fiorella Congedo from their children’s book Truli Style, the series was produced by a five-country consortium led by Fandango TV and Gaumont Animation. Two seasons, 104 segments, were commissioned simultaneously by Disney Junior EMEA, Rai YoYo, Télétoon+ and others, launching first on Rai Yoyo on 17 October 2017 and closing on 14 February 2019. Direction was handled solely by Eric Gosselet, while Canadian voice actors Eleanor Noble, Sonja Ball and Holly Gauthier-Frankel replaced the Italian cast for English-language markets.

The show’s formula never varies: Copperpot hatches a food-related theft, the young chefs consult the Cookbook, fail once, then succeed by combining their individual kitchen skills, Sun’s leadership and Nonna Trulla’s proverb-laced wisdom. Episodes like “Pie of Truth” and “Kaboom Cake” fold moral lessons about honesty and experimentation into sugar-dusted set pieces, always restoring the village’s communal feast before the credits roll.
