The Innocents

British teens June and Harry flee home, only to discover June can steal other people’s bodies.

Starring Percelle Ascott· Sorcha Groundsell· Guy Pearce
Overview

June McDaniel and Harry Polk bolt from their dreary Yorkshire lives, planning to start fresh in London. Their first night on the road, June blacks out and wakes wearing the face of a middle-aged trucker; Harry realises the girl he loves can literally become someone else. While the couple scramble to understand the rules of her skin-jumping gift, June’s mother Elena is already imprisoned in a snowbound Norwegian clinic run by Dr Halvorson, a psychiatrist who harvests shapeshifters in the name of therapy.

Across eight episodes the pair ricochet from London squats to Scandinavian fjords as Halvorson’s disciples, led by the volatile Steinar, hunt June for her rare ability to retain her own mind inside another body. Creator-writers Hania Elkington and Simon Duric frame the chase as both body-swap horror and bruised coming-of-age story: every time June shifts she risks erasing the host personality, forcing her to weigh teenage desire against collateral damage. The final showdown inside the glass-walled Sanctum leaves several characters dead, Elena freed and June’s powers evolved beyond recognition, but Netflix cancelled the series on 27 August 2018, freezing the lovers’ fate on a cliffhanger that will never resolve.
