Jake Yapp fronts this Dave acquisition that strips the US web-compilation Fail Army of its American commentary and replaces it with a brisk, sardonic British voiceover. The result is 60 half-hour episodes across three series that splice skateboard face-plants, cat miscalculations and drunken rooftop stunts into a relentless gag-reel, all scored to Yapp’s own rubbery theme. Commissioned by Dave in 2017, the format keeps production costs minimal: North One Television re-edits existing footage while Swan Burst Media supplies the original Fail Army library, letting the channel fill its 8 p.m. slot with reliably low-risk laughs.
Each episode clocks in at 22 minutes net, the adverts cushioning the carnage with just enough time for viewers to breathe between clips of cyclists impaling hedges and toddlers head-butting birthday cakes. Yapp’s narration lands somewhere between pub-raconteur and arch quiz-show host, dispensing pithy put-downs rather than sympathy for the bruised participants. No presenter appears on screen; the humour relies entirely on timing, repetition and the national pastime of watching other people fall over.
Three series have rolled out since the November 2017 launch, with no indication the supply of schadenfreude is drying up.
