Across nine one-hour episodes, Channel 4 drops twenty-four strangers into a Scottish pine forest with one instruction: stay alive with your cash. The prey begin clutching the entire £100,000 prize pot, split unevenly among them in sealed plastic pouches. Predators start with nothing but handheld scanners that ping when within fifty metres of any money carrier. When a predator tags a prey, the cash transfers instantly and their roles reverse, forcing the newly wealthy to flee while the emptied runner becomes the hunter.
The production rigged the 100-square-kilometre woodland with heat-sensitive drones, night-vision static cams and body-cams broadcasting every transaction. Executive producer Danielle Lux keeps the rules brutal: no safe zones, no rest periods, no communication between contestants once separated. A player can hide in a loch all night to cool their thermal signature or sprint across open clearings at dawn, but the trackers never sleep and the money always pings.
Narrator Mark Bazeley delivers terse updates over footage of mud-caked financial advisers crawling through bracken, their £7,300 share now belonging to a former PE teacher wearing night-vision goggles. The series ends with one exhausted woman staggering across the final extraction field clutching £82,400 while nine empty-handed predators watch from the treeline, their own chance at the jackpot reduced to zero.
