Overview

Peacock decided to give the 1989 cult classic a fresh coat of paint with this eight episode streaming version. Developed by Celeste Hughey, the story moves the suburban chaos into a modern setting while keeping the spirit of the original movie alive. Keke Palmer and Jack Whitehall take the lead as a couple who start to suspect their new neighbors might be hiding something pretty dark behind their manicured lawn.

The project has a lot of DNA from the source material since Brian Grazer returned to produce it and Dana Olsen, the man who wrote the first film, stayed involved as a producer too. They even filmed it on the same Universal Studios backlot where the movie was made decades ago. The cast is packed with funny people like Mark Proksch and Paula Pell, plus Haley Joel Osment shows up in a recurring spot. Nzingha Stewart directed the pilot to set the tone for the series. Wendy Schaal even makes an appearance for the longtime fans who remember her from the eighties version. All episodes dropped at once in early 2026.
