Stalked: Murder in Slow Motion

Three-part Channel 5 documentary where Kym Marsh narrates the final months of women killed by their stalkers.

Starring Kym Marsh· Celso Decarvalho· Gem Ibrahim
Overview

Kym Marsh opens each episode with the same confession: she too has been stalked. The camera then cuts to CCTV, text logs and police interviews that map how ordinary flirtation curdled into fatal obsession across 14 months. Episode one follows 23-year-old Molly McLaren, whose Tinder match Joshua Stimpson posted 230 Facebook statuses about her before waiting with a knife outside her gym. Episode two reconstructs the final shift of beautician Hollie Gazzard, stabbed 14 times at her salon by an ex-boyfriend already on police bail. The final instalment tracks 22-year-old Clare Bernal, shot at the Harvey Nichols perfume counter where she worked after her stalker breached bail conditions four times in six weeks.

Directors Alex Scott and Jessica Rajna keep the victims centre-screen, letting their WhatsApp voice notes play over slow-motion dramatisations rather than relying on talking heads. The result is 65 minutes of television that feels closer to evidence than eulogy, each frame timed to the point where a restraining order failed, a door was left unlocked or a station CCTV panned away. Channel 5 aired the trilogy across consecutive Tuesday nights in February 2019, then quietly removed the series from its catch-up hub after three months. No second run was commissioned.
