Sky News Breakfast launched on 18 October 2019 as the weekend counterweight to the relaunched Kay Burley show, promising viewers a looser but still news-heavy start to Saturdays and Sundays. Original hosts Stephen Dixon and Gillian Joseph fronted the four-hour Saturday and 150-minute Sunday editions from Osterley before the programme shifted to Westminster and entered a revolving-door era of presenters. After Dixon’s 2021 departure and Joseph’s move to the Ten, Niall Paterson was tapped as anchor, only for Anna Jones to take over Fridays-to-Sundays later that same year.
The slot stabilised in 2024 when Wilfred Frost, Leah Boleto and Anna Jones became the credited main anchors, with Jacqui Beltrao handling sport and Mhari Aurora filing political pieces. By then the show had outlasted its weekday namesake: when Burley left the channel in early 2025 her old slot was re-branded, yet the weekend Breakfast continued until 2 November 2025, when Sky folded the bulletin into the new Mornings with Ridge and Frost, again featuring Frost but now opposite Sophy Ridge.
