Rick Edwards presides over this ITV2 comedy panel show that pits two celebrities against each other in three rounds of escalating humiliation. Team captains David Morgan and Katherine Ryan lead the assault, weaponising embarrassing photos and social media access to force their opponents to cry mercy. The rules are simple: endure the abuse or utter your pre-agreed safeword to make it stop.
The first round, Hacked, hands control of the celebrity's social media to the opposing team, who rack up points for every mortifying post the victim allows to go live. Burned follows, with team captains taking turns to roast their opponent using images and captions from the "safe word generator" until the guest either breaks or the timer runs out. The final round, Slam Down, forces the celebrities to trade insults directly; those who cannot summon a comeback must deploy their safeword and delegate the attack to their team captain.
The loser receives "a swift and nasty exit": Edwards yanks a chain that flings their seat backwards, sending them vanishing into the studio scenery. Produced by STV Studios at Pacific Quay, the 45-minute programme ran for two series between 2015 and 2016, delivering thirteen episodes of carefully orchestrated cruelty disguised as entertainment.
