Matt Dawson fronts this Good Food challenge series that dispatches neighbourhood cooks to build gargantuan meals for their own communities. Each two-part episode lands in a different British town, gives the locals a day to beg, borrow and buy industrial quantities of produce, then fires up cement-mixers repurposed as batter bowls and fish crates converted into ovens to feed hundreds of onlookers.
The format is pure escalation: five regional judges score the mountain-sized cottage pie or 12-foot trifle on looks, taste and structural nerve, while Dawson roams the site asking whose bright idea it was to boil 200 litres of custard in a brewery kettle. A giant gold wooden spoon, taller than the head chef, goes to the winning crew; everyone else leaves with blistered hands and a new respect for bulk-buy mayonnaise.
RDF Television shot 20 editions across two runs, the second transmitted in November 2011, keeping the 45-minute slot and the same stripped-back score that sounds like a sousaphone falling downstairs. Episodes end not with teary speeches but with the victorious team lugging their prize straight to the pub, still wearing flour-dusted hoodies.
