Money for Nothing

Sarah Moore turns other people’s rubbish into cash with help from Britain’s top furniture upcyclers.

Starring Sarah Moore· Arthur Smith· Jay Blades
Overview

Sarah Moore patrols council tips, intercepts items destined for landfill and passes them to a rotating stable of designers who turn them into sellable pieces. Any profit heads back to the original owner. The 45-minute BBC One format, narrated by Arthur Smith, has run for seventeen series since 2015 and clocked up 320 episodes.

Jay Blades fronted the show from series 3 to 10 before his Repair Shop commitments intervened; Jacqui Joseph and JJ Chalmers now alternate presenting duties. EJ Osborne, who joined in 2017, left during series 7 and died in 2020. The long-serving design roster includes Rupert Blanchard, bag-maker Neil Wragg, Forge Creative’s Josh Kennard and Oli Milne, and metal-worker Bex Simon.

Celebrity Money for Nothing, a single-series spin-off in 2017, swapped members of the public for famous faces but kept the profit-for-trash model intact. Earlier runs stream on Netflix, while new episodes drop on BBC iPlayer shortly after broadcast.
