Warwick Davis voices the bookish mole who leaves his burrow after receiving a royal summons in the 2020 special, then returns for 52 eleven-minute escapades that rolled out across Boomerang’s EMEA feed from October 2021, with the second half landing in spring 2022. Stanley Tucci, Gemma Arterton, Julie Walters and Charles Dance round out the vocal cast, playing everything as brisk, slapstick capers aimed squarely at the under-eights.
The rollout map tells its own story of modern kids’ television: after the EMEA window, the series sat dormant until Peacock nabbed the US rights in July 2023, followed immediately by a YouTube window on the Talking Tom & Friends channel, then a belated free-to-air berth on Pop that finally began in October 2023. Each platform received the same 11-minute episodes, delivered in batches rather than the weekly drip-feed of older linear schedules.
Producer Tony Nottage kept production anchored in the UK under the Nottage Productions banner, with Leon Joosen directing a writers’ room that included Ricky Roxburgh and Leanna Dindal. The show’s aesthetic leans on bright, rounded designs and gentle peril, chasing a tone closer to classic Saturday-matoon fare than to the faster, meme-hungry style of contemporary YouTube animation.
