Ministry of Offence

GB News panel show where left and right compete in comedy quizzes about weekly politics.

Starring Leo Kearse· Steve N Allen· Diane Spencer
Overview

Leo Kearse and Diane Spencer captain rival teams of politicians and comedians in head-to-head rounds about the previous seven days’ headlines. Twenty episodes filmed at the channel’s Paddington studios in 2022, each running to forty-five minutes with advert breaks. Host Steve N Allen keeps score while segments titled ‘Spin Cycle’, ‘Fake News Bingo’ and ‘Policy Pitch’ award points for the sharpest put-down or most convincing statistic. Guests have included Brexit Party MEPs, junior ministers, stand-ups from the Edinburgh fringe and GB News’ own presenters, all encouraged to bring pre-written gags on cue cards supplied by the production team. The series never revealed viewing figures, but the channel repeated episodes in primetime slots throughout the summer. A second run was commissioned within three months, making it one of GB News’ first entertainment formats to be renewed rather than rested.
