Diane Kruger plays Jess, the mother whose baby arrives at A&E with an unexplained head injury, while Jo Joyner is Liz, the A&E doctor who makes the call that tears their friendship apart. Based on Sarah Vaughan's 2020 novel and adapted by Ruth Fowler, the six-part series was filmed across Budapest and London through summer 2024, with all episodes directed by Eva Sigurðardóttir. The entire limited series dropped on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland on 22 May 2025, with a US release following in December.
The cast features Ben Bailey Smith as Liz's husband Nick, JJ Feild as Jess's husband Ed, and Shelley Conn as Charlotte, one of the couple's mutual friends caught between loyalty and suspicion. Each 45-minute episode charts the escalating fallout as social services investigate, friendships strain, and the circumstances surrounding the baby's injury come under scrutiny. The production comes from Roughcut Television in association with Fremantle, with executive producers including Ash Atalla and the novel's author Sarah Vaughan.
