Floogals

Three-inch CGI aliens spy on human household while hiding in plain sight.

Starring Jules de Jongh· Rasmus Hardiker· Hugo Harold-Harrison
Overview

Fleeker, Flo and Boomer are four-inch purple aliens who crash-land in the bedroom of an eight-year-old boy and treat his suburban house as a field-station. Each 11-minute mission begins when the floogals spot an everyday object, a balloon or a toothbrush, and file a report for the mothership. If their superiors approve, each floogal wins a sticker; if not, they try again. The humans, the Kings, never notice the squatters scurrying across skirting boards or inside kitchen appliances, and the show keeps their faces half-cut by doorframes or blurred in wide shots.

Rasmus Hardiker voices the officious Captain Fleeker, Jules de Jongh is the cooler First Officer Flo, and Hugo Harold-Harrison supplies the nervous junior Boomer. Live-action interiors are shot in west London, while Jellyfish Pictures renders the floogals in bright, rubbery CGI that sits deliberately loose against the photography. The series debuted on Sprout in the United States in January 2016 and ran for 130 episodes across three seasons, ending in March 2020.

Sprout commissioned the programme as its first fully-owned preschool property, and the curriculum is sneaked in through the aliens’ mistakes: believing a banana is a communicative yellow creature or a birthday candle is a tiny heat torch. The floogals never conquer or rescue; they catalogue, misunderstand and finally label, turning domestic clutter into a science workbook that rewards curiosity rather than speed.
