Paul Baxendale-Walker devised Dial M for Loaded TV, a half-hour music slot that premiered on Sky and online on 28 November 2012. Each weekly episode balanced a fledgling act against a weathered name, filming both in live studio sessions and patching into external venues for real-time performances.
The guest list read like a map of Britain’s indie ecosystem: post-punk veterans Stiff Little Fingers and The Jam rubbed shoulders with gothic pop outsiders Fearless Vampire Killers, while Spear of Destiny frontman Kirk Brandon provided grizzled authority beside fresh-out-of-the-garage outfits The Wholls and Heaven’s Basement. Seventeen acts appeared across the run, ensuring every transmission carried at least one exclusive track or unreleased take.
Broadcast continued uninterrupted from launch until Loaded TV’s carriage agreement ended, making the archive the only place left to hear The Damn Vandals tear through “I Hate School” or catch Legend in Japan debuting their first single. Rights remain with the producer, so re-runs surface only on specialist music forums trading grainy Sky+ rips.
