Talpa, the Dutch company behind The Voice, imported the format from its home territory, betting that nostalgia plus slick visuals would overcome the absence of live performance. Instead, overnight ratings slid from 3.2 million to below 2 million, crushed by BBC One’s The Voice UK juggernaut and a saturated dance-show market. ITV quietly shelved plans for a second run before the February finale crowned EastEnders actor Jonny Labey and partner Chrissy Brooke the winners.
