Dance Dance Dance

Celebrities recreated iconic pop videos with professional partners in this glossy but short-lived ITV talent contest.

Overview

Alesha Dixon and Will Best fronted this six-part ITV series where celebrities learned and restaged legendary music-video routines alongside professional dancers. Each week, Ashley Banjo, Tina Landon and Dutch choreographer Timor Steffens scored the performances, awarding a maximum of thirty points and eliminating the lowest-scoring couple, Strictly-style. The production budget stretched to full costume and set replicas, so viewers saw former Emmerdale star Fiona Wade resurrect Beyoncé’s "Single Ladies", while a Made in Chelsea alum channelled Fatboy Slim’s "Weapon of Choice" complete with a flying waistcoat. Viewers voted via a premium-rate app, yet the combined jury-public tally never delivered a genuine upset.

Talpa, the Dutch company behind The Voice, imported the format from its home territory, betting that nostalgia plus slick visuals would overcome the absence of live performance. Instead, overnight ratings slid from 3.2 million to below 2 million, crushed by BBC One’s The Voice UK juggernaut and a saturated dance-show market. ITV quietly shelved plans for a second run before the February finale crowned EastEnders actor Jonny Labey and partner Chrissy Brooke the winners. The 90-minute episodes still surface on ITV2 schedules when schedules need a cheap, cheerful filler, but the series left no mark on British Saturday-night television beyond a fleeting, expensive shimmy.
