Celebrity Wish List

Channel 5’s 2011 Monday-night slot where a different celebrity each week organised a charity boost.

Overview

Celebrity Wish List is an eight-part Channel 5 series that aired at 7:30 pm on Monday nights in autumn 2011. Each week a different presenter, among them Michael Underwood, Stacey Solomon, Sheree Murphy, Zöe Salmon, Terri Dwyer and Jeff Brazier, chose a small charity and staged two events: a publicity stunt to raise its profile and a practical project to help it expand. The shows were produced by Seven8Media (then ID-r Media) with executive producer Rob Walker and series producer Simon Proctor.

Short VT inserts called “Heart Warmers”, fronted by contributors such as Joe Swash and Ali Bastian, broke up the main programme to reward unsung local fundraisers and good neighbours. The format tied celebrity pulling power to hyper-local causes, keeping the tone upbeat and the logistics modest enough for early-evening terrestrial viewing.
