Bootle Saddles

The stories of a group of Wild West fanatics in Northern England who trade the mundane reality of their suburban lives for the dust and leather of a simulated frontier.

Starring Kenneth Cope· Anne Carroll· Debbie Arnold
Overview

The stories of a group of Wild West fanatics in Northern England who trade the mundane reality of their suburban lives for the dust and leather of a simulated frontier. A curious, short-lived comedy drama that finds its humor in the wide gap between the rugged mythology of the American West and the rainy reality of the British landscape. While the premise suggests a one-note joke about middle-aged men playing cowboys, the scripts offer a surprisingly sympathetic look at the need for escapism and the camaraderie found in shared delusions.

It never quite achieved the cult status of similar eccentric British comedies, but Kenneth Cope provides a sturdy anchor as the leader of this band of misplaced outlaws.
