Alexander Armstrong presides over a modest comedy panel show that ran for two short series on Dave between 2012 and 2013, having begun life as a single pilot in May 2011. The format is simple: three comedian guests attempt to answer deliberately unanswerable questions dreamt up by Armstrong and a writing team led by Steve Punt, with the host awarding points on an arbitrary basis that owes more to punchlines than accuracy. The show was recorded at The London Studios and produced by So Television in partnership with Black Dog Television.
The guest roster reads like a roll-call of early-2010s British comedy circuit regulars: Jimmy Carr, Russell Kane, Sandi Toksvig, Jack Whitehall, Jo Brand and Stephen Mangan all appeared across the 14 transmitted episodes plus pilot, while Dave Lamb provided deadpan voice-over for the first series. Each 30-minute instalment follows the same loose structure of three rounds culminating in Armstrong declaring an often-undeserving winner, a gag that itself became a running joke.
Despite respectable ratings for the niche channel, Dave elected not to recommission the programme after the second series concluded in April 2013, and the format has not been revived elsewhere.
