Based on the Belgian format Homo Universalis, this is a fast paced and surprisingly addictive addition to the Saturday night schedule. While the games themselves often border on the trivial, the sheer scale of the elimination process provides a compelling narrative hook. It succeeds by tapping into a primal schoolyard anxiety, making the quest to simply not be the worst far more engaging than a standard race to be the best.
The double act of brothers Adam and Ryan Thomas provides a breezy, enthusiastic focal point for the unfolding chaos. It is a shame the axe fell after only one season, as the format possessed a certain ruthless charm that distinguished it from more bloated reality peers.
